It is Severe Weather and Flooding Preparedness Week in Indiana, and we’ll need to watch out for both on Wednesday. To learn more about Severe Weather Awareness Week go here.
We have awesome weather today with sunshine and highs in the lower 70s. Wind from the south at 10-15 mph. Mild with a few showers possible overnight with lows in the lower 60s.
An isolated shower possible Tuesday, but most of the day will be dry and warm with highs in the upper 70s. It will be a bit breezier with south winds at 10-20 mph.
Wednesday is the main focus this week as a cold front will move through with heavy rain and thunderstorms. For now, the severe weather threat looks low, with most of Indiana under level 1 of the 5 severe weather risk categories from the Storm Prediction Center. Around 1-2″ rainfall amounts possible, so we’ll need to keep an eye out for localized flooding.
Temperatures will drop more than 20-degrees behind the front for Thursday, and we could even have wind chills in the 30s Thursday morning. Just a brief cold spell through with 60s back this weekend.
For the weekend, it’s looking really good for Saturday and the St. Patrick’s Parade. Rain chances could return late Sunday.
