Drought conditions are getting worse across Southern Indiana and Kentucky. The latest Drought Monitor places Kentucky in a Moderate to Extreme Drought, and parts of Southern Indiana in a Moderate Drought. We’re running almost 3″ below normal for the month for rainfall, and over 6″ below normal for the year.
Today will be very warm and dry with temperatures running 10° above normal in the 80s. Southwest wind at 10-15 mph.
Tomorrow will finally bring much-needed showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. Many areas could pick up around 1/4″ to 1/2″ rainfall totals. The severe weather threat is very low.
This weekend will be dry and pleasant with highs in the upper 70s to near 80°.
We’ll need to keep an eye out for a chance of strong to severe storms late Monday. Our Derby Week weather does look a bit more active with occasional rain chances, which is pretty typical!
Here’s today’s weather history, countdown, and jokes.
