Beginning Aug. 1, high school students throughout Clark and Floyd counties will have the opportunity to apply to receive generous, well-earned four-year scholarships through the Community Foundation of Southern Indiana. The scholarships are the result of a statewide Lilly Endowment, Inc. initiative to help Indiana students attain higher levels of education.
This year, two students from both Clark and Floyd Counties will be chosen to be Lilly Endowment Community Scholars and receive the gift of a four-year scholarship. In addition to full tuition to the accredited Indiana college or university of their choice, the students will receive a $900 annual stipend for books and equipment.
“Because of the generosity of the Lilly Endowment, Inc. we are able to provide these important scholarships to two recipients in each county,” said Crystal Gunther, Directory of Community Philanthropy for the Community Foundation of Southern Indiana. “We couldn’t be more thankful to the Lilly Endowment for their continued support of our foundation and community. These scholarships will provide an opportunity for these students that will positively impact them for the rest of their lives.”
The online application will open August 1 on the Community Foundation’s website at www.cfsouthernindiana.com. Completed applications will be due to the Community Foundation by noon on September 12.
The applications for all other donor-established scholarships administered through the Community Foundation of Southern Indiana will be available in early December 2016 with completed applications due on January 31st at noon.
