The muggy weather continues today with occasional pop-up downpours. The severe weather threat will stay low, but a few storms could be on the strong side. The Storm Prediction Center has our area under a Marginal Risk of Severe Storms (level 1 of 5).

The high-resolution weather models show more afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms, capable of heavy rain, lightning, and brief gusty winds. Be prepared to head inside at times today, and keep the rain gear handy.

The front will be slow to move through Tuesday, so a few leftover showers likely, and still muggy.

The drier air lags behind the front, and is expected to arrive Tuesday evening.

We’ll have less humidity Wednesday and Thursday, and a mainly dry weather pattern through our Fourth of July!

Have a great first week of July! -Meteorologist Ben Peine
