Extol will always focus on celebrating Southern Indiana, but our readership in the Derby City is expanding both in print and online, so we’ve decided to include a regular feature spotlighting Louisville. Starting next issue, columnist JD Dotson will share some of his favorite locales across The Ohio and seek input, too.
One of my new favorite places there is Stout Burgers & Beers, 1604 Bardstown Road, which offers a variety of burgers – beef, chicken and veggie – and an excellent beer selection. I have never refrained from smothering a burger with ketchup, mustard, mayo, pickles, tomatoes and lettuce, no matter how it appeared on the menu – until I tried The Goombah at Stout. Topped with parmasiano flakes, smoked mozzarella, crispy prosciutto and a delectable lemon basil aioli, the burger was perfection. In fact, it’s the best burger, from meat to bun and everything in between, I’ve ever had. Instead of Seasoned Fries or the tasty Sweet Potato Fries, I had the Kale/Quinoa Salad and would have ordered another one if I hadn’t been so full.
What restaurant, venue, menu item, hidden attraction, shop, person or event do you love about Louisville? Tell JD by sending an email to extol@extolmag.com, and he’ll share it in an upcoming issue.
