JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA, May 27, 2026 – Schimpff’s Confectionery is asking for your vote again as they go for a repeat win as Best Candy Store in America 2026 by USA Today. The beloved candy shop, open for business in Historic Downtown Jeffersonville for the past 135 years, won the nationwide competition last year and hopes people will help them earn the title again.
A panel of experts from USA Today nominated independent candy stores from across the country and is hosting online voting to determine which business the public thinks is the best in the nation.
“We were honored that people across America and the world voted for Schimpff’s Confectionery last year,” said Steve Shepherd, affectionately known as ‘Cousin Steve,’ the fifth generation of the Schimpff’s family to run the business. “We wanted to defend our sweet title, and so we are kindly asking everyone to vote for us online again. Last year was amazing, but this year we marked 135 years in business, so a repeat win would be a little extra cinnamon on the red hot.”
