We have a cold front which will bring fall-like air again, but more importantly, much-needed rain to Southern Indiana and Kentucky Thursday morning. A second cold front will bring more rain chances late Friday into Saturday morning and reinforce the autumn-like air for this weekend.
Thankfully, severe weather is not expected, however you may see some lightning and hear some thunder overnight into early Thursday. Around a 1/4″ to 1/2″ of total rainfall is expected.
The rain will likely be heaviest early morning, then taper off mid-late morning for Southern Indiana, then linger a bit longer into the early afternoon Kentucky. The maps below show the rain Thursday morning, then drying out midday Thursday.

Most of Friday will be dry, but rain chances will likely be increasing Friday evening and possibly lasting into part of Saturday morning.

If you like fall, you will like this weekend with highs in the 70s and lows in the 50s (40s outside the city).

All in all, it’s a great start to September! -Meteorologist Ben Peine
