Our first heat wave of 2025 is on the way for our first weekend of summer and through next week! Summer officially begins tonight at 10:42 PM.
Expect high temperatures in the low to mid-90s Saturday and Sunday, and well into the mid-90s through next week. The humidity will be cranking back up as well, pushing heat index values into the triple digits! Many of us won’t be used to this heat, so stay hydrated, check on elderly neighbors, and make sure your A/C is in good shape.
The map below shows the heat index on Sunday, which will be the same through our first workweek of summer.

These are longest days of the year, with the latest sunsets through the end of June. Sunset at 9:09 PM, with a day length of 14 hours, 49 minutes.
The sun will be blazing, with a VERY HIGH UV Index of 10 today. Don’t forget the sunscreen.
Today, the humidity won’t be too bad, very warm and sunny with highs in the upper 80s. Light southwest wind at 5-10 mph.

Some of the long range weather model data suggests maybe a little break in the heat wave by next week or into early July. We shall see!
Stay cool Southern Indiana!
