Some of the hottest temperatures of the year are on the way with a mid-August heat wave kicking in this weekend. We can expect temperatures in the mid-upper 90s Saturday through early next week with heat index values at 100° or above.

Perhaps, possibly, perchance, maybe, potentially, this could be our last big heat wave of the year. Let’s hope anyway.

We do see relief heading our by the middle and end of our next workweek. A front should bring our next good chance of rain, then cooler temperatures and less humidity by Thursday.

The Climate Prediction Center is on board with below normal temperatures for the last week of August and possibly into early September with their 8-14 day temperature outlook.

In the meantime, try to keep cool, enjoy the A/C, pool, lake, or river!

Have a great weekend! -Meteorologist Ben Peine
