Rounds of showers and storms are expected through Tuesday with Flash Flooding the main threat. Turning hotter and drier by the middle of our next workweek.
The weather models, even the highest resolution weather models, are doing a horrible job timing out the storms, but just be prepared for occasional storms from time to time over the next couple of days. Heed any flood warnings, and never try to drive through a flood roadway. Keep children away from rushing rivers, creek, and streams. The Weather Prediction Center has our region under a risk of Excessive Rainfall.

The Storm Prediction Center has our area under a Slight Risk of Severe Storms. The overall risk of severe weather is low, but isolated gusty winds and frequent lightning are possible.

Other than the storm chances, it will be incredibly muggy, with a Heat Advisory for much of the area today.

The maps below try to time out our rounds of showers and storms, but I wouldn’t bet on the exact timing. Basically, this just shows us that we’ll have the storm chances around over the next couple of days.

Now, after this stormy period of weather, we’re looking at hotter and drier conditions mid-week. We could end up with heat index values well over 100° Wednesday through Friday. Storm chances may increase again as we head into next weekend. Stay safe!
