Earlier this summer, Extol invited readers to enter our Escapeaway Sweepstakes, presented by Perfect Escape, a subsidiary of Perfect Stripes Lawn + Landscape. The grand-prize winners of the contest, Rob and Christi Steller of Crestwood, won $5,000 toward the Perfect Escape outdoor design and landscaping project of their dreams.
In their entry email, the Stellers wrote, “Our dream Escapeaway Sweepstakes project is a campfire experience in our backyard. After throwing away our second rusted-out, freestanding fire pit, we have decided that we need to add a permanent stone fixture to our home. Our project will extend from our existing but drab 12-foot by 16-foot concrete slab. The current area does not serve our desired purpose as an inviting extension of our walkout basement. Our vision for the addition is twofold: First, we would expand the slab outward from our home in abstract semicircle formation that would include a raised circular fire pit and a stone and/or wood seating area. Second, to add to the outdoor experience, we would like to add a stair-stepping, self-contained water feature to an adjoining area along the back of our home. Our desired plan would utilize a similar flagstone material to our path that was completed as a DIY project last summer.”
After the Stellers were notified they’d won the Escapeaway Sweepstakes, Perfect Escape/Perfect Stripes co-owners David Cooper and Jonathan Cooper consulted with the couple and went to work with their team.
“We’re very pleased, very excited,” Christi Steller said.
“It probably exceeded expectations as well,” added Rob Steller.
“They did a very good job of matching what was in our heads,” Christi Steller said. “It turned out better than what we expected, and we were pleasantly surprised. That doesn’t happen very often that you get what you want.”
Son Carter, 7, agreed. “I really like it,” he said, after showing the Extol team the goldfish that now reside in the Stellers’ new water feature.
