Homeless Coalition of Southern Indiana Receives Grant from Glick Philanthropies
Monies to be used to help community members meet basic needs
New Albany, Ind. [July 10, 2025] – Homeless Coalition of Southern Indiana received a $10,000 grant from the Glick Community Relief Fund, a grant program of Glick Philanthropies that supports local nonprofit organizations to increase community members’ access to basic needs. The grant was one of 107 totaling $770,000 to organizations supporting communities across 12 states where Gene B. Glick Company properties are located.
“With support from Glick Philanthropies, we will expand our housing stability efforts by providing financial assistance, landlord mediation, and case management to help more families avoid eviction and remain safely housed,” said Homeless Coalition of Southern Indiana Executive Director Leslea Cronin Townsend. “This grant allows us to keep more families housed and prevent homelessness before it starts. Stable and affordable housing is the foundation for long-term well-being, and this support helps us make that possible for our most vulnerable neighbors.”
The Glick Community Relief Fund focuses on increasing healthy food access, expanding accessible transportation, connecting community members to utility assistance, and prioritizing mental health support. This grant was one of 66 directed to Indiana-based organizations.
“Glick Philanthropies is committed to offering support to nonprofit organizations that are supporting our most vulnerable community members in accessing their basic needs,” said Ben Grande, Glick Philanthropies Director of Philanthropy. “The efforts of these organizations are especially critical now as many of our neighbors will likely lose access to basic needs-related supports they rely on due to government funding cuts. Our work with
the Glick Community Relief Fund allows us to help 107 organizations that are making meaningful contributions to communities, families, and individuals across the country.”
2025 marks the ninth year that Glick Philanthropies has administered its property-nominated grant program. Through this initiative, over $5.5 million has been awarded to nearly 300 nonprofit organizations in communities where Gene B. Glick Company properties are located. This is the second year that Homeless Coalition of Southern Indiana has been a Glick Community Relief Fund grant recipient.
