Southern Indiana will have a chance for a few sprinkles through this afternoon, but a much better chance of scattered showers and a few thunderstorms Thursday.
An upper-level low pressure system to our west, will sling some light precipitation our way today, but much of it will be evaporating before it hits the ground (virga). With that said, don’t be surprised by a few sneaky sprinkles making it to the ground. Notice the high resolution HRRR weather model below showing that small chance.

TODAY’S FORECAST: Temperatures will be pleasant in the lower to middle 70s this afternoon, with a very light breeze from the south at around 5 mph. Mostly cloudy tonight
TONIGHT’S FORECAST: Mostly cloudy with a few showers. Light breeze, and low temperatures in the upper 50s.

Now, as we look ahead to Thursday, a cold front will be moving through the region and this will give us scattered showers and possibly a few garden-variety thunderstorms. Severe weather is not expected. Also, rainfall totals will be scattered, but generally less than 1/2″, so no flooding is expected. Once again, just have the rain gear handy, as we so often have done this wet spring season. The maps below show the rain chances tomorrow around midday and toward evening.

Dry air arrives for Friday and Saturday, with highs in the upper 60s and low 70s. So far, Mother’s Day is still looking mostly dry. We want to believe the European and Canadian weather models right now, as they are all dry Sunday. The American GFS weather models brings in a rain chance, let’s ignore that for now!
