This doesn’t look like a big threat of severe weather, but it’s always good to be ready just in case. Showers and storms will develop late Thursday afternoon and into the evening ahead of a cold front. The Storm Prediction Center has our area under a Slight Risk of Severe Storms. This typically means we’ll see a few severe thunderstorm warnings, and possibly a spin-up tornado.

The threat is looking higher for areas in Central Indiana. Below is a look at the tornado (2%-5% within a 25-mile wide circle) and hail threat (5%-15%).

The main timeframe for strong to severe storms appears to be between 6 PM to 10 PM. We’ll fine tune this Thursday morning as well.

Again, this doesn’t appear to be a huge threat, but there is a lot of wind energy and some fuel for the storms, so there are enough ingredients to just be prepared for potential watches and warnings. As with any severe threat, be prepared to seek shelter in a safe place if a warning is issued for your area.
