The threat for severe weather will be increasing Friday evening, with all hazards possible including damaging straight-line winds in excess of 60 mph, large hail, and tornadoes.
A Severe Thunderstorm or Tornado Watch will likely be issued late Friday, so be prepared to seek shelter if a warning is issued for your area this evening. Right now, it looks like the timeframe for the highest the threat of severe thunderstorms will be from 7 PM until 11 PM for Southern Indiana, lasting a bit later in the night for areas in Kentucky.
The maps below show the timing at 6 PM, 9 PM, and Midnight.

If you have plans Friday night, just have a way to seek shelter immediately if storms roll through your area.
The Storm Prediction Center has placed all of our region under a fairly rare MODERATE RISK of Severe Storms for today.

The Storm Prediction Center has also highlighted our area for a 15% chance of a strong tornado (EF-2 or greater), within 25 miles of a point.

Thankfully, once the storms pass to the south later tonight, we are in for a dry weekend, with cooler temperatures in the upper 70s.
Now, unfortunately, we don’t get much of a break with unsettled weather returning next week. Rain chances return Monday through next Wednesday, and trending toward a much cooler weather pattern as well.
