As we warm-up this afternoon and add a bit more moisture to the atmosphere, don’t be surprised by a few pop-up showers and storms. The winds are very light, so these showers could be slow-movers and put down locally heavy rain, but severe weather is not expected. The maps below show the random, hit-or-miss variety of pop-ups later today.

Expect highs in the upper 70s and lower 80s, with a south wind at 5-10 mph. An isolated shower or storm will be possible tonight, but much of the activity will likely fade with the loss of daytime heading after sunset.
Tree pollen levels remain high today.

Friday will feature a higher chance of scattered showers and storms. Rain will be possible at any point tomorrow, but there will be breaks, so not a washout. Some of the latest weather models data hints that the morning could be driest, with a better chance of showers and storms in the afternoon and night. Either way, have the rain gear handy!

Rainfall totals of around .50″ to 1.50″ will be possible. No significant flooding is expected, and the severe weather threat will be very low for our area.

The rain will move out late Friday night and leave our weather a bit cooler and dry for this weekend. Highs will be back closer to normal in the upper 60s and low 70s for Saturday and Sunday.
Heading into Derby Week we’re looking and warm and mostly dry Monday and Tuesday. Rain chances will ramp back up with an unsettled weather pattern returning late Tuesday through next Thursday. Seems every Derby Week we have to deal with some rain chances.
