New and expanded programs offer intensive, evidence-based care for adolescents as an alternative to inpatient treatment, enabling them to stay at home and in school.
JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. — Family Ark has expanded its teen and adolescent drug and alcohol treatment services, increasing access to trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate care for youth ages 12–17 across southern Indiana.
Family Ark now offers multiple levels of outpatient support for teens, including a once-weekly evening treatment group and a new Teen Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) launching April 6. Together, these programs provide families, schools, courts, and healthcare providers with flexible treatment options that allow teens to receive meaningful care without residential placement or disruption to school and family life.
Families and community partners, including schools and the justice system, have consistently identified the need for higher-level substance use treatment options that are accessible, clinically appropriate, and designed to keep teens connected to their daily lives.
The expansion of these services was made possible through a transformational Impact100 Southern Indiana grant, which is supporting the launch of additional adolescent treatment options.
“Being able to be heard at a young age can prevent many years of suffering alone in substance use,” said Dianna Tutt, Family Ark Recovery Coach and speaker at the Impact100 Southern Indiana grant award ceremony. “Family Ark’s Intensive Outpatient Program for teens gives young people a way to be heard and supported.”
Teen Drug and Alcohol Treatment Options
Family Ark’s Behavioral Health Center offers assessment-guided services to match each teen with the most appropriate level of care, including:
Weekly Outpatient Group (Evenings)
A trauma-informed, skills-based group designed for teens who need structured support related to substance use and underlying stress or trauma.
Teen Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
Launching April 6, the IOP meets Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 4:00–7:00 p.m. and provides a higher level of group-based support for teens who need more consistency and structure while continuing to live at home and attend school.
All services begin with a comprehensive assessment to determine the most appropriate level of care, which may include group-based treatment, intensive outpatient services, or individual therapy.
“This expansion reflects what we have been hearing directly from families and community partners,” said Jeanean Jacobs, Chief Executive Officer of Family Ark. “There has been a clear need for teen substance use services that are effective, accessible, and don’t require removing young people from their homes or schools. These programs allow us to meet teens where they are and respond earlier, before challenges escalate.”
Family Ark leaders say the program was intentionally designed to deliver evidence-based care while keeping teens connected to the people and environments that support recovery.
“Our new Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program was built with one goal in mind: providing teens with the compassionate, evidence-based care they deserve,” said Kristi Glotzbach, Chief Operating Officer.
Community partners say the investment reflects a broader commitment to meeting unmet needs for youth in Southern Indiana.
“Early support can change the trajectory of a young person’s life,” said Cindy Sisloff, past president and marketing chair of Impact100 Southern Indiana. “At Impact100 Southern Indiana, women come together through collective giving to invest in projects that transform lives. Supporting Family Ark’s expansion means more teens in our community can receive help early while staying connected to their families and schools.”
Impact100 Southern Indiana is a women’s collective giving organization that empowers women to make a lasting impact in their community. Each year, members contribute $1,000 and vote to award transformational grants to nonprofit organizations serving Clark, Floyd, and Harrison counties. Together, members have awarded more than $1 million in grants to support programs that improve the quality of life in Southern Indiana.
Family Ark is now accepting referrals and inquiries from parents and caregivers, schools, juvenile courts, healthcare providers, and other community partners.
