AML Construction and Summit Construction Announce Strategic Merger
Regional powerhouses unite to expand reach, elevate service, shape future of construction.
FLOYDS KNOBS, Ind. (August 12, 2025) — AML Construction and Summit Construction, two of Kentuckiana’s most respected construction firms, have officially merged, marking a pivotal moment in the region’s construction landscape. The union brings together more than a century of combined expertise and a shared commitment to building smarter, faster, and better.
Founded in 1956, AML Construction has grown from a residential concrete contractor into a full-service general contractor known for safety, quality, family values, and operational excellence. Summit Construction, established in the mid-1990s, has carved out its niche in the development of industrial warehouse facilities across the Louisville Metro and Southern Indiana region.
“This isn’t just a handshake — it’s a full-force merger,” said Bobby Libs, AML Construction CEO and owner. “Summit shares our values, our work ethic, and our drive to serve clients with integrity. Together, we’re doubling down on what we do best: delivering quality projects, building lasting relationships, and creating opportunities for our team members.”
The merger enables the combined company to expand into new markets, grow its client base, and leverage each other’s strengths. AML’s self-perform capabilities and deep roots in Kentuckiana complement Summit’s long-standing focus on industrial construction management. This merger also means more opportunities for our valued subcontractors and vendors, who are essential to delivering the high-quality projects our clients expect.
“For years, we’ve worked in parallel, often bidding on the same projects,” said Jeff Robinson, Summit Construction President. “Now, we’re on the same team, and that opens up new opportunities for our clients, our subcontractors, and our employees. It’s an exciting step forward.”
While day-to-day operations will remain consistent in the short term, both leadership teams anticipate collaborative growth and strategic innovation in the years ahead. The newly merged company is actively exploring expansion beyond the Louisville metro region and plans to continue investing in its people-first culture.
“This is about more than just business,” Libs said. “We’re building something that will last for generations for our employees, our clients, and our community. My grandfather Art Libs and his three boys – Bob, Richard, and Don – started AML in 1956. Bob grew AML into one of the best GC (general contractor) firms in the region. I know he’d be proud of what we are continuing to build”
