A potent fall cold front will be moving through our area late Saturday night into Sunday morning with rain, storms, and high winds.
Before the front arrives, near record high temperatures are possible with highs in the 80s. We’ll also have breezier conditions with south winds at 15-25 mph.
The showers and storms are expected to move in Saturday night, especially late night. For now, the severe weather threat looks low. The Storm Prediction Center has our area placed in what’s called a Marginal Risk or level 1 out of 5 for severe storms. The higher risk looks to stay off to our southwest.

None the less, some storms that move through our area could pack some gusty winds, especially with the strong low-level just just above us. At around 5,000 feet up, winds will be flowing higher than 50 mph. Sometimes the rain can bring these strong winds to the ground and cause isolated straight-line wind damage.

Rain showers will linger into Sunday morning. Sunday will be our windiest day we’ve had in a long time, with 30-40 mph wind gusts. The winds will die down Sunday evening. Rainfall totals of .25″ to .75″ are likely. No significant flooding is expected.

The fall front will do it’s job with about at 20-degree temperature drop from Saturday to Sunday. 80s Saturday, to much cooler 60s on Sunday. A cooler pattern next week with highs in the 60s and lows in 40s, but that’s pretty close to where we should be for this time of year.
