After a hot and dry Friday, we’ll keep the heat this weekend, but add an increasing chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms.
Notice on the maps below, we could see a few showers around Saturday morning, then spotty afternoon pop-up showers and storms. However, toward Saturday evening we could have a line of strong thunderstorms moving into the region. The severe weather threat is low (Level 1 out of 5) from the Storm Prediction Center. Any storm could be capable of very heavy rainfall, frequent lightning, and brief gusty winds.

For today, it’s simply hot and humid, with a Very High UV Index. High temperatures in the lower to mid-90s. A light south wind at 5-10 mph.

Our sticky summer weather pattern will continue through next week with highs in the upper 80s and lower 90s, and occasional pop-up showers and storms. There are still some signs that cooler air could arrive by next weekend. We hope! The Climate Prediction Center shows a cooler trend in the 6-10 day outlook, just to our west.
