Ben’s first appearance on television was in fifth grade when he won a weather drawing contest and was featured on the noon news by KSDK Meteorologist John Fuller. After spending over twenty years delivering television weathercasts for local newscasts in Muncie, IN, Jefferson City, MO, Augusta, GA, and Louisville, KY, Ben is now happy to working outside of television and forecasting the weather locally for Southern, Indiana.

Ben began his television career (luckily before YouTube) at Ball State University on WCRH-TV in Muncie, Indiana. For the first professional gig, he and his wife Sarah headed to Peoria, Illinois for a stint in radio and forecasting for professional golf tournaments with Mobile Weather Team, INC.

Ben subsequently worked for a year at KRCG-TV in Jefferson City, Missouri, and then over three years at WAGT-TV, the NBC station in Augusta, Georgia as the morning meteorologist. “I will always cherish my memories of getting to caddy on those hallowed grounds of Augusta National Golf Course for three seasons, and getting to play the course four times!”

Ben then moved to Louisville, Kentucky as the weekend meteorologist at WHAS-11, the ABC station. Within a couple years, Ben became the weekday morning meteorologist, and then shortly after became the Chief Meteorologist for over 10 years. After nearly 17 years at WHAS11, Ben was ready to change careers outside of television to spend more time with family.

Ben’s wife Sarah works at a local bank, and his children Hannah and Brady are active in several sports. Hannah will be attending IU, and Brady is a junior in High School.

Ben now owns his own weather consulting company, Peine Weather Services, and provides local forecasts for Southern Indiana. You can find Ben live streaming “Ben @ 10” and providing weather forecasts throughout each day with Extol Media based out of New Albany, Indiana.

Ben was on the cover of the first Extol Magazine ten years ago, and is now excited to join the team full time!
