Rock & Glow returns with music, hot air balloons and fun!

CHARLESTOWN, Ind. – The City of Charlestown is gearing up to celebrate Founders Week 2025 with a week full of family-fun events geared around “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood.”
The annual celebration, presented by Ambassador Sponsor Denton Floyd Real Estate Group, is slated for June 21-28, culminating with the Rock & Glow.
Held at Charlestown Little League Park, the Rock & Glow event on Saturday, June 28 returns with expanded hours (2-11 p.m.) offering a day full of activities. Tethered hot air balloon rides take place starting at 6 p.m. (subject to weather conditions) and a nighttime illuminated balloon glow surround a stage filled with music. New to the festival is the Family Festival Field, offering bounce houses, video game truck, and activities from local organizations. A free Amateur Corn Hole Tournament begins at 2 p.m. with the first place team earning Yeti coolers.
Saturday’s sounds will come from a DJ from 2-5 before the Blind Corn Liquor Pickers perform at 6 p.m. The headliner for the night will be The Rigby’s, a tribute band to The Beatles at 9 p.m. The event also features a packed line-up of food trucks and market vendors. Parking will be at Charlestown High School and the Family Activities Park with courtesy transportation to the event, located at 152 Steve Hamilton Drive. Wheelchair accessible parking will be at the event venue.
Prior to the festival grounds opening, the Founders Week Parade (1 p.m) will feature Grand Marshal Donna Coomer, who has served as the City of Charlestown’s Clerk Treasurer for 25 years!
The calendar of events for the week include:
Saturday, June 21:
- Diversity Festival and Day of Service – Greenway Park, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. led by local teenagers, the event features vendors, music, and cleaning along Pleasant Run Creek;
- Saturdays on the Square Pop-Up Market – City Square, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Prince & Princess Pageant – Arts & Enrichment Center, 2 p.m. Forms for contestants (ages 5-7) are online at www.CityofCharlestown.com.
Sunday, June 22:
- Team Trivia – A&E Center, 2 p.m. Free event, no pre-registration required. “Harry Potter and the British Invasion” themed.
- A&E Open House – A&E Center, 3:30-5:30. See the newly remodeled community space.
- Shakespeare in the Park: Much Ado About Nothing – at City Square, 6 p.m. Free.
Monday, June 23:
- Brick Building Clinic – Charlestown Middle School, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Students ages 8-12 will build with community partners. Pre-registration required.
Tuesday, June 24:
- Moore Family Ice Cream Social and Gospel Singing – Family Activities Park, 6-9 p.m. Free park admission and enjoy local musicians.
Wednesday, June 25:
- “Marriage, Mob, Murder” Mystery Dinner Party – A&E Center, 6 p.m. Solve the case! Advanced tickets are $30 each or $160/table.
Friday, June 27:
- Family Fun Night – Family Activities Park, 6-9 p.m. Park will be open for free with live music from the Willis Tucker Band. Plus, free hot dogs to the first 150 guests.
- Louisville Roller Derby Exhibition Match – Family Activities Park, 6 p.m. Athletes perform a match, then skate with the public.
Saturday, June 28:
- Kentucky Small Critter Convention – A&E Center, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. A fundraising event hosted by The Celtic Glider. Ticket available online.
- Backyard Classics Car Club 27th Annual Car Show – City Square, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Enjoy cars, music, prizes, and food trucks. Cars can register in advance, or day of the show.
- Founders Week Parade – Begins at 1 p.m. The route begins at Charlestown High School and rolls down Monroe Street, to Main Street, to Level Street before returning back to the high school.
- Amateur Corn Hole Tournament – Charlestown Little League Park, 2 p.m. Blind draw event.
- Rock & Glow Festival, Balloon Glow and Concert – Charlestown Little League Park, 2-11 p.m.
